Environmental Site Assessment
Increased awareness of the potential liabilities associated with
the handling of regulated hazardous wastes has led to an understanding
of the potential environmental impacts of past and current property
use. Potential liability can exist in the form of unidentified
on-site sources of contamination, previous business practices,
and impacts from nearby properties.
Summit's Phase I Environmental Site Assessment program is designed
to assist the client in managing the risks associated with potential
environmental liabilities. Summit observes current site conditions
and conducts a thorough review of site specific historical and
regulatory data.
Capabilities
Summit's scope of services for Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
include:
- Reviewing available historical and geological information
for the site and surrounding properties;
- Conducting a site reconnaissance of the subject property;
- Reviewing local, state, and federal regulatory agency databases
for environmental incidents and conditions at and near the subject
property;
- Interviewing individuals familiar with present and prior site
activities; and
- Preparing a report summarizing the results of the assessment
activities and providing recommendations for additional assessment,
if warranted.

Unlike many other consultants, Summit can tailor its assessment
activities by using checklist formats, transaction screens, ASTM
language, or Summit’s "Red Flag" report to suit
the individual needs of our clients. Summit provides additional
assessment for asbestos-containing building materials, radon,
lead, and other toxic materials. Summit has extensive experience
completing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments nationwide.
