Water Resources

Summit's Water Resource Management (WRM) program is designed to assist our clients with their water resource needs.  Summit’s approach combines experienced professionals with state-of-the-art technologies to provide superior, innovative, cost effective WRM consulting.  From exploration and development to permitting and optimization, Summit's WRM staff is dedicated to exceeding the diverse needs and expectations of our clients.

Summit has been developing groundwater visualization tools for over 20 years.  Summit collaborated on the development of a piece of software, called AQUILYTICS, that uses continuous water level and flow rate data to perform hydrogeologic tasks that are not offered in any other software. The most significant advance is the ability to visualize the potentiometric surface as it changes over time in response to pumping or recharge.  A sophisticated algorithm is used to krige water level data in relatively small increments (e.g. 15 minute data).  Particle tracking is also visualized.  Other tools include a well efficiency calculator, well interference evaluator, entrance velocity calculator, specific capacity tracker, Javendel and Tsang capture zone calculator, and Cooper-Jacob time drawdown calculator.

Along the path of writing these software tools, Summit has also developed a protocol for acquiring telemetric data.  We have researched and field tested transducers, water quality sensors, dataloggers, cellular modems, solar panels, weather stations, air monitors, noise monitors, and battery solutions.  In addition, an environmental/water supply database and corresponding graphical user interface (EPIPHINY) was developed to enable instantaneous data access, querying, graphing, and GIS visualization.
